Further wandering eventually brought me to Wat Phra Sing. Established in 1345 (though it has been rebuilt and restored), it was built on the spot where a carriage containing sacred relics broke down. I sense a theme. The site also has a garden out back where one can wander and ponder the signs written in Thai and English.
After much contemplation, one thing I did realize was that I was getting "watted out". I'd taken numerable pictures of the exquisite decor, but enough was enough. Buddhist overload (can that happen?) How unzen of me. Nothing eventful that night. I read my book, and packed for my next destination: a little hippie village I'd heard about called Pai.
